On my last trip to Seattle I rented a car from Avis. When I returned it I looked over my reciept and noticed that I was charged $7.05 for what was called a Energy Recovery Fee. WTF! How are they recovering the energy I used and which energy exactly are they recovering? I called Avis to have them try and explain it to me but they could not.
As far as I can tell it is just another tax under the guise of being eco-consensus. If anyone else has an explaination I’m listening becasue I am getting tired of being taxed to death. Sell me a product or provide me a service at a reasonable price with no extra fees or taxes and STAY OUT OF MY POCKET!
Well I am in Seattle right now and have noticed a little quirk with the phone. If your phone is connected to your company Exchange mail server, when you leave Alaska and are roaming it will not automatically get your mail. This is a default setting probably to prevent you from racking up massive data charges.
If your like me and have unlimited nationwide data you’ll want it to sync automatically.
Here’s how. Press HOME > MENU > Settings > Data synchronization > Exchange ActiveSync. Press MENU, and then tap Settings. Check “Sync when roaming.”
This Saturday December 19th Special Olympics of Alaska will be having a Polar Bear Plunge. One of my coworkers will be jumping and if you check back here on Saturday you will be able to see it live.
So I got a call from my parents today and they were having email problems. If you like me you know how hard it can be to help you family and friends over the phone. Well I tried Go to Assist today. It was great, I was able to grab control of their PC remotely and fix the problem. What could have easily been an hour phone call took me five min to fix.
Unfortunately it’s not free but they do have day passes, for ten bucks you can connect to as may computers you want for twenty four hours. There is some software to install, the support console on your end and the client software. Don’t worry though you just tell whom ever your helping to go to a website enter their name and a support key that is given to you when you launch the support console and the client install begins. All they have to do is click yes to allow the install.
It works with Mac’s an PC’s so I suggest you check it out the next time you have to help someone out unless you like phone support.
